The conclusion of the Supreme Court's term last June was a blockbuster. The Court issued landmark rulings in controversial cases treating abortion, guns, administrative law, and religion. As to religion, the Court's rulings included a decision in favor of the "praying football coach" in the case of Kennedy v. Bremerton School District. In that case, the Court set forth what appeared to be a course correction in its interpretation of the First Amendment's Establishment Clause.

What is the significance of the Court's decision in the Coach Kennedy case? Judge Ryan Nelson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will be in Moscow to discuss this development in the Supreme Court's First Amendment jurisprudence. Judge Nelson will address the interpretive history of the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause, the changes wrought by the Supreme Court’s decision last term in the Kennedy case, and what that means for the future of litigation and policy in this area. His lecture will be followed by time for Q&A

Event co-sponsored with the Idaho Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society.
